This framed print is part of a collection of historical prints of Michigan Indians. This portrait is of an Ottawa leader who led the Rebellion of 1763. He gathered many tribes to fight the British in his rebellion. He is pictured here holding the traditional Ottawa war club. Oral tradition indicates that he wore three feathers at the front of his headband to symbolize the three tribes of Michigan. Feathers worn by the Michigan tribes were usually placed down.
